Camp gadgets
Some camp gadgets are awesome and can transform your outdoor experience. Here are some compact, good quality and truly useful gadgets I have used. I have no links or affiliations to any of these companies – their stuff is just brilliant.
Cooking with these stoves is quick and easy. Packed down they can look a bit bulky, but remember this is your total cooking gear; stove, pans and and kettle. Methylated spirits is cheap and easy to get round the world once you know what the local name is (in the USA it is called “denatured alcohol”). I regularly fed 6 hungry people with the 4 man version of this, and the fuel efficiency is good at low altitudes. They even do a biofuel burner, for a cleaner, greener camp cooker.
Camping with one of these is a game changer! No matter how miserable the weather, good coffee in the morning starts your day right. I made the coffee extra strong, while heating a pan of oat milk, and we had the best lattes ever. Very easy to clean too.
Tiny pack size and extremely strong. We use ours as a bed, swing, afternoon snooze hideaway and place to chill and read. Takes a minute to set up and take down which is important, and worth chucking in your rucksack just in case. On our recent USA trip, our only problem was we should have brought a couple more, as even though we had the double hammocks, they were always full of people!
